Overview

Indulge in a true gourmet French experience: preparing, cooking, and enjoying your own 3-course meal. Choose between a 4.5- or 6-hour Paris culinary course (a 1.5-hour market visit is optional) then set out to learn the tricks and techniques of French cooking. An instructor will help you through the steps of creating an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. French wine is also included with your gourmet lunch.

An incredible experience

My husband and I took this cooking class in July and it was one of our favorite experiences we did while in Paris. It was incredible! We had the best time. Chef Fredric was wonderful. He was so nice and knowledgeable about cooking. We made a delicious traditional French meal from Nice. We learned so many new cooking techniques that we can use at home. We will definitely recommend Le Foodist to our friends and family! Thank you Chef Fredric for an unforgettable experience!

Awesome venue terrific host poor choice of food. So here is the deal, Fred the host and chef is amazing. The le foodist venue awesome and the people we were with were terrific. The problem: one person has dairy allergies so because if that I was at a French cooking class That could not have butter or cream. So while all these reviews showed people making traditional awesome French cuisine, we had boiledChicken with veggies. So it was a fun experience but I didn’t like that we were not notified ahead of time this was the case. We would have rescheduled. So I would make sure that you are cooking a real Paris meal.

Chef Frederick was incredibly warm and made everyone feel welcome. He was knowledgebale about the food and where it came from and instantly set the tone for an engaging day. The space was bright and inviting and the food was delicious! 10/10 would recommend for anyone and everyone.

Best cooking class ever because it was full of amazing knowledge, super funny chef jokes and so much more. M. Fred was our teacher and literally coolest French person ever with perfect taste, a general annoyance with anything manufactured and a joy, love of teaching his students how to find the best produce at the market, make the right reduction in the most simple way, create the most amazing soup with no salt (seriously!) and so many great tips - from vanilla bean extraction to cooking peaches. So enjoyed learning, the vibe of Le Foodist and the awesome peeps who make the place so special. If you want to really want to try and understand French cooking, Fred is your person!

This was an awesome experience! The Foodist space was so beautiful and had a perfect teaching kitchen. The preparation process for the 3 courses was so informative that I came away enthusiastically looking forward to trying everything I learned in my own kitchen. Fred was so smart and enjoyable. Hey had a great sense of humor coupled with enormous patience. I highly recommend this experience to anyone.

Enjoyable day in Kitchen that started with a visit to open air market where ingredients were purchased for lunch. Twelve in class and all given prep and then additional duties to complete meal. Best meal we‘ve eaten in France. Highly recommend

Clearly a popular activity to do, just didn’t hit the mark with us. There was a staffing issue the day we went, and a function that evening so I think he was distracted which probably impacted the overall experience. He did raise his voice at our son when he scraped a piece of Potatoe in the bin, which again we will say it was probably just an off day for him. If my family knew how much we spent on this experience I would be in loads of trouble! There was another dessert session on that day and we would much rather have been on that one - looked a lot more fun.

And I really I know at least who the famous "He" is ... (a name would have helped). But I would encourage anybody reading your review and who considers signing up for an experience like it to read its full description on our website (and maybe not a third party website), to make sure they understand what it is: we share about French culture, Paris food scene, Food Science and some history, and of course lots of tips and tricks for cooking a three course meal - on top of a hands-on cooking session and hopefully delicious food (you did not mention the food ...). It is definitely geared toward people who have an interest in the things I just described. We have other classes, such as macarons or French dessert who are maybe more geared toward people who want to have just 'fun', because there is less focus on French culture and food science; even though there might be some as well ... Anyway, I promise I will not let your family know how much you spent for this ;-) Cheers Fred

Frederic was an excellent and amusing teacher who took us first to the market and then helped us create a delicious three course meal. At every step he shared cooking tips and tricks in a memorable fashion so there is a good chance I’ll be able to recreate the meal at home and dazzle my family over Christmas. It was serious cooking but also a great deal of fun — the highlight so far of my trip to Paris.

We learned so much in this class. It wasn’t just “here’s the recipe”, it was technique, understanding the rationale behind certain ingredients, the basic science behind the recipes and all useful, delicious and fun. Lunch was elegantly served with great wine. We highly highly recommend Le Foodist!

This was the best thing I did during my week long trip to Paris! I like to cook so I found the entire experience relaxing and enriching. I would definitely recommend adding the trip to the market. The kitchen experience was well organized and fun. I enjoyed meeting the other participants and getting to know them. I attended as a solo participant and was happy to find that several others in the group were also attending alone - so I would recommend attending by yourself if the rest of your party isn't interested, as the group is inviting to all. Our chef was light hearted and entertaining while also keeping us focused to complete the meal and learn some kitchen techniques. The food we made was delicious and we took the time to enjoy each course with some paired wines. Overall a 5-star experience.

My best friend and I were in Paris for the week and decided to take a cooking class. This class was so much fun and one of the highlights of our trip. The visit to the farmers market was very educational and fun. Once back, we quickly got to work making the most incredible recipes. I highly highly recommend.
